John 2:1-11 (A)

John 2:1-11

2:1	On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there,
2:2	and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.
2:3	When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
2:4	“Dear woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied, “My time has not yet come.”
2:5	His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
2:6	Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.
2:7	Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
2:8	Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so,
2:9	and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside
2:10	and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”
2:11	This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.

Mark

10:46	Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (that is, the Son of Timaeus), was sitting by the roadside begging.
10:47	When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
10:48	Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
10:49	Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you.”
10:50	Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
10:51	“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”
10:52	“Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Luke

5:1	One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,with the people crowding around him and listening to the word of God,
5:2	he saw at the water's edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets.
5:3	He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
5:4	When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let downthe nets for a catch.”
5:5	Simon answered, “Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
5:6	When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.
5:7	So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
