1.1) Why was Jesus’ mother there at the wedding party? Was she a guest or a helper? She was a helper. 1.2) Why do you think so? (2) She was very concerned about running out of wine, as though she was a part of the wedding host. 2. What kind of person Jesus’ mother was? 1) (v.3) Jesus’ mother was a lady of love in action. She came to the wedding party to help the host. 2) (v.3) Jesus’ mother was a lady concerned about others and sensitive to other’s needs. 3)...(v.3) Jesus’ mother was a lady of compassion and tried to do something to help others out. 4) (v.3) Jesus’ mother was a lady with faith on Jesus. She knew who has the key to solve the crisis. 5) (v.5) Jesus’ mother was a lady of faith in action. 2.1) When will be ”My (Jesus’) time” ? (v. 4) 2.2) What does wine symbolize at Jesus’ time? Wine symbolizes the blood of Jesus to be shed to forgive our sins. 3. What was the best decision the wedding host had made for that wedding party? The best decision the wedding host made was to invite Jesus to the wedding party. 4. Why did Jesus come to that wedding party? Jesus knew that the wine would be running out at the wedding party. He attended the wedding party to help them. 5. What kinds of people were there at that wedding party? The wedding host, the master of the wedding party, the wedding guests, servants, Jesus’ mother and her family, and Jesus’ disciples were at the wedding party. 6. How did Jesus bless those people? 1) The wedding host: Jesus provided the wedding host with their needs (wine). 2) The master of the wedding party and the wedding guests: They had an opportunity to taste the miracle wine. 3) The servants: They observed a miracle while serving Jesus. 4) Jesus’ mother: Jesus’ mother was blessed with Jesus. 5) The disciples: The disciples strengthened their faith that Jesus is the Messiah. 7.1) Who were the most blessed people among them? Individual answer 7.2) Why do you think so? 8. 1) Is drinking wine a sin? Drinking wine itself is not a sin, but to become drunken is a sin. 8.2) What is your attitude towards wine? Although drinking wine is not a sin, controlling how much to drink is difficult. As more and more alcohol is consumed, drinking will eventually become addictive. (2) My drinking of wines may influence other Christians to drink as well. If one of them became alcoholic, I will become partly responsible. (3) I may give a bad example as a Christian, because other people may see me as a Christian compromised with the world. 9.1) What will you say to those people who think that we should pray for spiritual things, but not to pray for material things? God cares for us spiritually and physically. As long as the priority is right, as we seek the
9.2) What will you say to those people who think that God is too busy to listen to our personal trivial needs? God is in charge of the universe, but also he is the God of detail. God knows us better than we know ourselves. God cares for even the smallest part of our needs. Life Application: 1. What did you learn from Jesus’ mother, Mary? Individual answer 2. What would you do at your unexpected life crisis? I would seek God in the name of Jesus at my unexpected life crisis. 3. Would you try to practice faith in action like Mary and obedient faith like the servants? Yes. 4. Have you invited Jesus into your marriage life? Individual answer.

Thank you our Heavenly Father for your Son, Jesus. Jesus! Thank you that you came down into the midst of us and provide us for our needs. Give us a bold faith to put our faith into action and an obedient faith so that we can experience God’s miracle everyday. Jesus! We invite you into our family so that we can serve You together to glorify our heavenly Father’s name. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
