Day 3 (A): What drives your life? 1. How do you define the driving force of life? 2.1) Have you ever thought about what are the driving forces of people in cars on a highway? They are driving fast with various motivations. 2) What will decide the driving force of a car? Engine size 3) What will decide the driving force of life? Motivation 3.What are five of the most common driving forces of life? Guilt driven life 1. The wandering life of Cain (Genesis 4:1-10) 1) What was Cain’s response toward God after he killed his brother, Abel? All the problem started with God. If God treated me fairly with Abel, this tragedy would never have happened. 2) What was Adam’s response toward God after he disobeyed God? He blamed God for giving Eve as his wife, who seduced him to disobey God. 3) What are their common characteristics in response to sinful acts? Blaming others for the sin that they committed 4) Did blaming others give peace in their conscience? No 5) What did Cain do after he killed his brother, Abel? He buried his brother’s body. 6) Why did he bury his brother’s body? To hide his sinful act from God and other people. 7) Did Cain obtain peace of mind by blaming others for his sinful action or hiding sinful acts? No 8) What price did Cain pay in his life for not repenting his sin? He had to wander from place to place for the rest of his life. 9) Why couldn’t Cain settle down at one place? He was probably restless because his past memory for Abel tormented him through his conscience. 10) Why did Cain have to wander from place to place? This was the Cain’s response to restlessness driven by the tormenting past memory. 11) What should Cain have done in order to have peace of mind? Repentance to God for his sin in order to receive God’s forgiveness 2. Guilt-driven life 1) Why do people commit sin? In order to satisfy people’s sinful desire 2) How does Satan seduce people to commit sin? 3) What won’t Satan tell us? We have to pay dire price for committing sin. 4) How do people deal with the sin committed? Trying to hide the sin (shame) 5) How did Adam and Eve try to hide (cover) their sin (shame)? They tried to cover up the shameful area with fig tree leaves. 6) How do people try to cover up themselves after committing sin? (1) blaming others (2) self-justification (3) rationalization 7) Even though People try to hide their sins, can they hide from their consciences? No 8) What will be the response of their consciences toward the sin committed? Regret, self-blame, self accusation, self-anger and self condemnation 9) What will be the consequence of distressed memory? Guilt-driven and restless-driven wandering life (mind-wise and action-wise) 10) Can you illustrate how people are living wandering lives in modern days? Individual answer 11) What is Paul’s instruction on past memory-driven life?
